Problem Statement
Every engineer, artist, poet, and scientist begins in the classroom. When their creativity is constrained by sitting in an uncomfortable, "one size fits all" desk for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, a student can easily get bored and see the classroom as a place of confinement rather than a space for exploration.
Development
The ParaTeamo team has decided to design a more ergonomic desk that will adapt to the different body types of the student creating comfort in an otherwise plain classroom. The desk also will convert from a sitting to standing desk to promote a more engaging environment.
Final Design
Parateino is the Greek word "to extend." We hope that this final design will transform the classroom into a place that is modern and extend the creativity of the teachers and students.
A Modern Desk for the Modern ClassroomThe Parateino Desk innovated everything about the traditional school desks from the chair's legs to the table top. The legs are bent at an angle in order to provide ample support. Outfitted with firm cushions and a tilted back, the seat was ergonomically designed to provide comfort. Finally, the most distinguishable feature is the desktop which was designed to raise and lower to become a sitting-standing desk.
